Alvin (ALVIN)

Alvin was an art comics publisher, curator, and friend. Alvin possessed a remarkable artistic intuition, marked by a unique ability to perceive and appreciate visual art in a way that was unmatched. His discerning taste enabled him to identify talented cartoonists well ahead of their mainstream recognition. He played a pivotal role in introducing and publishing a number of influential artists, including Tom Gauld, Lisa Hanawalt, Anders Nilsen, Jeffrey Brown, Vanessa Davis, Matt Furie, among others, who have since become integral figures in the art-comics world. Alvin owned Buenaventura Press, originally specializing in handcrafted fine press prints for artists like Gary Panter, Daniel Clowes, Julie Doucet, Chris Ware, and others, before expanding into publishing works in various book formats. Buenaventura Press also published "Boy's Club 2" and "Boy's Club 3 by Matt Furie.
